Accell Bankruptcy - and now what? - An overview

At first: Thank you for your big interest of my project BikeBlacklist over the last two years, but now to the actual thing.

Accell is bankrupt - in the bike industry and for anyone in the scene it is basic knowledge since August, not so for the "normal" customer. You may not know this and only stumble on to this article, because you are searching for parts of a bike you own. Today I had exactly that case. So for you out there, this is just an easy understanding of what's going on.

The Accell Group was one of the BIG players in the bike industry as we know of, having a big portfolio of bike and part brands and sub brands and also doing parts distribution via their own distribution companies. Bike stores have most of the time one main distributor for nearly everything in the store and maybe a second (or third - depending on the size of the store) for when the first is out of stock. Some things you only get at one distributor. You see where I wanna hinting to.

All of the part distributors are/were really important, to get you as a rider the parts, that you need. Those might be the same distributors who sold the bikes to your local store. Now its November and some brands could be rescued, others still struggle and others are gone. Here I list what came out of months of unknowing, what will be of the brands. If you have warranty claims for any of those brands please contact them, if they acknowledge the (limited) warranty claims of Accell. Please have patience with your local bike shop. If your bike needs special parts: please order them NOW.

For everything taken over by Dutech, there is a claim from a spokesperson, that they "examines the organization of spare parts, warranties and after-sales service."
